Cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass and travel through Berber villages on the drive to Zagora. Enjoy a camel trek and sleep in Berber tents in the middle of the Sahara desert.
First you cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass of the High Atlas mountains. You then travel through several Berber villages, and once in the desert, the riverside oasis and barren hillsides are clustered with Kasbahs. After lunch you drive further to Zagora, with beautiful views of the Draa Valley. You then ride camels into the dunes, and after witnessing a beautiful sunset you can enjoy a fantastic dinner and then spend the night under the stars in Berber tents.
After viewing the most beautiful sunrise and having breakfast at the camp site you will ride camels back to the Auberge. Drive back to Marrakech, again via Tichka pass. You will arrive to Marrakech late in the afternoon.

The Moroccan Dirham exchange rate is set by the central Bank of Morocco. Euros and Pounds sterling and are accepted by some larger traders. Traveller’s cheques are useful for emergencies but can be very time consuming to cash. A currency exchange slip is required to change back surplus Dirham.
Although a predominantly Muslim country, Morocco is not dry. Alcohol is available in restaurants, liquor stores, bars, supermarkets, clubs, hotels and discos. Some Moroccans enjoy a drink although it is disapproved in public places. The local brew of choice carries the highly original name of Casablanca Beer.

In winter, you’ll want to head south to the desert. Nights can be chilly but during the day you’ll enjoy the sun and blue skies bereft of clouds. In summer, the Atlantic coast is generally balmy and it is the best season for treks in the Atlas. At over 1800m in altitude freshness is a safe bet! That being said, nothing is stopping you from discovering the Moroccan desert as long as you choose the right accommodation and can adapt to the heat.
